recently I was in a meeting with my manager and HR person, I was just returning from disability and FMLA, since I feared that I would be terminated via retaliation, I placed a recording device on the table in clear view.
the meeting went well and I was given a severance package, then a few minutes after the minute, I was confronted about recording the meeting. I admitted that I did, and then I was told that I was in violation of our companies standards of business conduct policy. I was not aware that could not openly record a meeting.
Now they want to terminate me. Is this legal?
