Can a US Citizen legally own an online casino or stock of such a company, like SPORTINGBET PLC (whom abides to US legislation by blocking US customers) that trades in the London stock exchange?

In theory... I think that might work and not result in a violation of the Federal Wire Wager Act, 18 U.S.C. 1084. See the case of United States v. Cohen, 260 F.3d 68, 76 (2nd Cir. 2001) -- where Jay Cohen was prosecuted for ownership in a company that did service US Citizens. I would think what you own outside of the country is your own business but don't just take my word for it if you want a true legal opinion from a lawyer who has fully researched this issue. Just a little knowledge and some gut feeling.
