Garnishment Can a collection agency sue/garnish ME for a car/debt my ex got in the divorce 3 year

I got divorced in 2008 and my ex got the car that we had jointly purchased. Last week a collection agency called me stating the car was repossessed and sold at auction 12/2010. The remaining balance is $8000 and they intend to ultimately garnish my wages for this money. I sent them the divorce papers showing she got the car/debt plus I've provided her address, employer & other info to help them pursue her. Can they sue/garnish me for her car?

If your name was still on the paperwork and she didn't refinance in her own name...then yes, they can come after you.

They're not party to the divorce decree; if they do sue you they'll win and you'll have to sue your ex to be reimbursed.
