Bus stop accident- Liability of Bus Company

I was in my car sitting in a bus stop discharging a passenger when my car was struck by a bus which took the side mirror of my vehicle off. I received a ticket for the offense and promptly paid it (as I was parked in the bus stop illegally). When I contacted the bus company to seek payment for damages, they informed me that because I was in a bus stop that they will only pay half of the damages to my vehicle.

Should I sue the bus company in small claims court for the remainder of the repairs (plus court fees) since my car while parked illegally was nonetheless a stationary object that was hit by a bus?
