I picked up a jar style candle in a major dept. store and the lid fell out right away. It shattered my toe. Can't walk, back is in major pain, haven't worked in a week.

Is there anything legally I can do?

You aren't saying anything that suggests anyone was negligent.

Yes, be more careful in the future.
If you sue the store, which you can do, they'll vigorously defend.
Your injuries were cased by your hand.
You can sue, anyone can sue.
But, you haven't case on which you can prevail.
