bounced check -court order

I had bounced a check unintentionally because I was unable to deposit the correct funds due to being ill. The other party contacted the police who said I must go down to the station immediately. The bill was paid in full prior to the police calling me down.They gave me a court date which I appeared and the judge said he wants me to get an attorney for a future date. He said I could go to jail for 90 days. Is this true? I know what I did was wrong but I was ill and it was unintentional.What are my options?Please advise.
