My x is a federal employee. We got divorced in 99. He told me he sent a letter to BCBS stating that I was not longer cover in his insurance. But the insurance never stop my membership. I even called them personally in couple occasions and told them that he took me off of the insurance. The answer me that hey you still in the policy just keep using it because you still cover. This call was made in 2000.
The consultation is that my x is going to retire and in January he is going to take me off of the insurance. I don't know if he has been paying it or not but I am afraid of what is going to happen if blue cross says now that I was not cover all this time. I have never stopped using the insurance.
What is going to happen now? I am scared.

There's no way for us to tell if BCBS will decide that you shouldn't have been covered up to now. But I think you can pretty much be sure that as of when he retires, you will not longer be covered going forward.
