BELTON, Texas (KWTX) Belton police are warning residents about a crime called "bank jugging," in which residents are followed after making withdrawals from banks or ATMs.
The thieves may try to break into vehicles in order to steal the cash, or failing that, may actually rob residents.
Jugging hasn't surfaced yet in Belton, but police say they want residents to be aware of it.
"Rely on your own instincts. If you feel like someone is watching you they probably are. It's always good to be aware of your surroundings. If anyone was following you, or watching you and you are leaving the establishment. Hide the money," Belton police Sgt. Kim Hamilton said.
Police say residents who make withdrawals should be sure to take the cash out of their vehicles and to remember to lock the doors.
