Bank Account Compromised

I booked a cruise over the telephone, and paid for it by Debit card.

Three days later on checking my current account, two deductions had been made from my account at exactlythe same time, i.e.1:46. There was a period of 12 seconds between the two withdrawals.

One of the withdrawals relates to the cruise I had booked, the other - which was for $918) did not.

I contacted my bank who (amongst other things) suggested I contacted the company with whom I had booked the cruise. I did so, and they confirmed that they had only deducted one amount.

The questions I have are:

1. Do I have any claim against the bank?
2. Is the bank required to tell me 'who' has received the monies that I did not authorize?
3. The fact that two amounts went out of my account at exactly the same time suggests either a system fault at the cruise company, or an employee fault. It is beyond coincidence. Can I expect anything at all from the company, i.e. investigation into what happened?

What are my rights in this situation?
 
Have you filed a formal claim for the double charge with your bank so they can investigate where the problem occurred? That would be a good place to start. Good Luck!
