Hi,

I'm taking a self-improvement company to small claims court. I paid a part of the tuition(~$2800) for a program I intended to attend. At that time, the refund policy (displayed on their website) was to hold only up to $500 of the amount of money already received.

Now I can't take the program, and they don't respond to any of my mails or calls about my refund. They changed their terms of service and even completely removed the previous one from their website.

I don't have any copy of the Terms of Service enforceable back when I paid. Will that be a problem?

Moreover, I live in France and the business is located in LA.

What can I do?

You are gong to have a serious problem collecting this money from them. The change in their TOS is a small problem compared to the fact that you would have to sue in California and you live in FRANCE! The travel costs alone would far exceed what you can recover. I would do my best to get ahold of them and work something out.
