My brother is a Junior in High School in central Indiana and just turned 18 (Saturday) and he just moved out of my parent's house to live with his girlfriend and her parents. My parents aren't going to pay for his school books and lunches and so on, so he went to the school to see if he can get discounts (i.e. free lunches) The school told him that his parents need to have him emancipated or they will have to pay. My parents are still married, and I have never heard of emancipating an adult before. Is the school telling the truth?

The emancipation age in IN is 21 I believe. It is definitely not 18. So your parents are still responsible for him since he is not emancipated. He needs to move back home if he is not financially self supporting.
