First, I apologize if this has already been answered. I did not find this topic where I looked.
Ex lives in California, I in Colorado - hence the two different states.
I have been and continue to be on social security disability since before the divorce and child custody issue where ex is custodial parent and has a child support order against me and there is back support accumulated that I have been unable to pay on due to my very meager social security checks.
I stand to inherit monies from sale of parents' estate (property, land, etc).
Will these monies inherited be taken by ex to satisfy the support?
I ask because the ex is very irresponsible with money, and I would like to give monies directly to my children or set up trusts for them.
