I would be so appreciative of any advice on this...

My mother just was granted a small partial reconsideration on her motion to reconsider property distribution on her divorce. Her attorney said that because the judge made an award in their favor (he said Mom owes DAD 24000 of her pension instead of 27000) she will not take the remainder of it to the appellate court for my Mom. (The judge refuses to take into account my father's dissipation of assets throughout the 4 year separation.) Her attorney has also told my mom if she doesn't sign the consent to qildro (which an appellate court ruling says she doesn't have to do) she will drop her as a client.

#1.. Can her attorney actually refuse what her client wants?
#2.. Can she file an appeal pro se? (I understand the likelyhood of winning, etc.. but can my mom file pro se?) What do we do to start the process?

( We are in central Illinois)

One last question... I may be sending my mom's story to MADD, domestic violence groups, etc, as well as local papers and anyone who will listen... would I get in trouble for including my mother's attorney's name in doing so?
