Hello.
My grandmother adopted my cousin many years ago as my aunt was unfit to look after him, making him my legal uncle.
When my grandfather died my uncle/cousin has decided he would patch things up with his mother (my aunt) and, with his wife, they proceeded to make life hell for my grandmother by saying things about my grandfather and demanding some of his property and money.
My grandmother is now worried that when she dies she will have to leave them something, when they honestly don't deserve anything for what they've put her and my mother through.
So we were just thinking, is there any way my grandmother can legally un-adopt (for lack of a better term) my uncle/cousin so he has no way of getting to her estate?

Thank you.

No but she can disinherit them. She does have a will right? I recommend she contact an attorney and get a will made. She can leave her estate to anyone she pleases and she can exclusivley leave out this family member. Trusts are a good way to secure assets as well.

Yes, she has a will and an attorney. I think she is afraid that they'd be able to contest her will and that they'd find some way to get around it.

Probably not. They can contest all they want but it doesn't mean they will get anything besides a huge bill for legal fees.
