igot a civil demand letter they got the merchindise not messed up, no cops just signed a piece a paper what should i do?

I got caught shoplifiting, they took the merchindise, not damaged or nothing the guy just took my name and let me go should i pay the civil demand? alot of people says i shouldnt since no cops were involed, they took my name and social and handed me a piece of paper aqnd let me go

It's your decision as noted by the other responders. Some people do say not to pay it & others say to pay it. The thing is if you don't, there "could be" additional consequences.
