I am getting divorced. My attorney has a 'reputation' of being great in court, but has shown she isn't an advocate of mine at all. If I get another attorney, am I right thinking my soon-to-be ex-wife can't retain my present attorney due to atty/client relationship and confidentiality issues?

Not a lawyer, but worked for several... as far as I know, your attorney may not accept your ex as a client. Furthermore, it's my understanding that any attorney you've consulted in the matter, even if never actually retained by you, is precluded from accepting your ex as a client. A friend of mine had several attorneys turn him away because his ex had "interviewed" them first. Presents a conflict of interest, violation of attorney/client privilege.

You'd need an attorney to give you an absolute answer, but that's my understanding.
