K Visa American marrying a Canadian and moving to Canada

I am an American and my Canadian fiance and I are thinking about eloping next month. We plan in the future to live in Canada. Would it be better to get married in the US or in Canada or does it really even matter?
From an immigration perspective, would it be better to wait to get married until we have taken other steps towards moving me there?

Since you want to live in Canada, I'd check with the immigration bureaucrats up there.

If you are in the US then marry when you get to Canada after eloping..........Then you can file there......and live there.
