Adding Name to real estate

I furnished 1/2 of the downpayment on my son's house. I did not sign on the mortgage. How do I get my name on the title to protect my investment?

A: You and your son (and his spouse if he is married) go to a lawyer and have a deed drawn up conveying you whatever part of the real estate you think you need. (This must be done by a lawyer; this is an exceptionally general answer. Talk it over with YOUR lawyer...who will NOT be representing son and spouse, if any.)
