Accident in boyfriends car

Last december I was in an accident in my boyfriends car, because he was uninsured and I knew I had to accept responsibility for my part in the accident I am paying the other parties insurance company for damages to their car. Instead of getting his car fixed he went out and purchased a new one and told me I had to pay for it. Should I really be held responsible for buying him a new car and would he have a case if he tried to sue me?

You are responsible for the cost of the damages or the value of the car. He can try to sue you for whatever he wants, but I doubt that any court will make you pay for the cost of a new car if the old car was not worth as much.
