My parents are married but not the they way with the church. My english is bad and I am not trying to be rude and I am sorry if this offended someone. I don't know how to put it but I'll get to the point.

My family is Cambodian and my parents were married at the temple but the temple was here in the US so then does that count as a legal marriage in the US?

A legal marriage in the US must involve a marriage license and an official authorized by state law to solemnize marriages.

What you describe is a ceremonial marriage because no state issued marriage license was involved.

You would have to check county records to find out if the marriage was recorded legally. Go to the county clerk's office.
