Hi, I had a friend who was struggling financially. He came to me for help everytime he needed money. He claimed he would return the money but its been over a year now and all i get back is promises. We had no official contract and no paper trail. I only have bank statements showing that i withdrew a certain amount of cash. That cash amount is the amount I gave my friend. The total money lent was 3200.

Do I have a case against him? Are my statements enough to prove that he owes me money??

The three thousand odd dollars is your gift to a deadbeat, unless the deadbeat admits it was a loan. Always get an IOU, if you persist in giving your money away. At least that way, you'd have an almost airtight case, if you ever had to sue. The best advice is never loan money you can't afford to never see again. If you don't wanna give away your money, don't loan it to anyone!
