71 year old Mother hit by car

This past Chicago thursday morning 4/16, my mother who is 71 was legally walking across an intersection @ 630am. A van tried to make a hasty left turn and side swiped her, knocking her down hard onto the pavement. He stopped, police were called , he was ticketed,she went to hospital and was released w/minor cuts and bruises. I dont know what long term effects this will have on her but she will be seeing a family doctor asap.I believe we should sue this man for his reckless driving. My gosh he could have killed her.Thankfully it wasnt worse. His license was expired as well so i assume he was arrested. My mom lives on a fixed income ,social security etc. so she cannot afford the hospital visits, meds. How and where do we find a proper atty, what might we sue for ? thank you for any advice and help!
