7 year Abandonment

I am the custodial parent to my 7 year old daughter. Her father has not been a part of her life basically from day one. I was told that after 7 years of him being gone that this was called abandonment and that he no longer has any say to her. Please tell me if this is true.

Not true. Who told you this? Probably not an attoreny.

Unless the father has had his parental rights terminated and someone else has adopted the child, abandonment is not automatic. However if you are remarried and your husband wants to adopt, it probably will not be too hard to prove abandonment.
