We have a family home in Scotland,my father died in January,apparently leaving no will for this estate.There is also a bank account with the property.My stepmum is claiming a third of the estate despite recieving the full estate in Spain and USA.I have been told by lawyer in England that she's not entitled to a third because of the 3rd generation law,the house was my grandparents house which my father bought a long time ago,which should now pass to us.I have also been told by my scottish solicitor that there's no such law.Does anyone know anything about this 3rd generation law? Im confused over this.
