They go to trial if you fight charge not if you work out plea deal

After sending an e-mail to the LA County DA Office, I received this:

We are in receipt of your inquiry regarding a ticket you received for Penal Code Section 484, Petty Theft. Depending on where you received the ticket, your case could be handled by a number of different agencies, including the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. If a criminal case is filed you will receive written notification from the filing agency. We have no record of declining or filing a case against you at this time.

What does this mean? It has been almost 4 weeks since I committed the crime.

It means pretty much what it says. Soon as court gets complaint a court date will be issued and you will be notified

Strange...I thought I was already issued a court date on my citation slip. This is somewhat confusing

Does your citation have a court date? If so then you should be there
