Our son was found to have tobacco products, and received a misdemeaner with a court date to occr before 9/5/12. He is a senior in high school and we are concerned this will impact his ability to get into college. What options does he have, to have this MIP Tobacco/misdemeanor removed from his record?

Perhaps Sonny Boy should have thought of that before he decided to break the law.

Tell me, what's so special about your particular snowflake that he should be entitled to break the law with no consequences?

Tell Little Jimmy to plead not guilty, you hire Cupcake a lawyer, follow the lawyer's directions, if Sweetness does everything the lawyer says, this will only be a bad memory.

If he has no prior record he will be fine. This would likely be handled as an infraction or if lucky dismissed altogether. Expect to pay a small fine and some fees on his behalf and he may have to work some community service hours. Unless there is more to the story nobody is going to put much effort into prosecuting this.
