Hi -

My 16 year old daughter is scheduled to start Female to male hormone therapy with the goal of masculinizing her. She says she wants to be a boy, and has a therapist who has signed off on it. Her mother, the custodial parent, has agreed. Is this legal in Ohio before age 18? The results are largely irreversible, including sterilization, possible liver damage, heart damage, etc. Is there anything I can do to prevent it?

You may have to go to court and file a motion to dispute this. Until she actually has surgery it is somewhat reversible. Once she stops the male horomones her body may go back to normal but you never know. The so called "pregnant man" stopped taking his male horomones and got pregnant and is now pregnant again. I am not knowledgable on the other health risks associated with FTM transistions.
