    Remember Me checkbox?

Of course. :) Anything not inside a <form>....</form> tag will not be passed with 'submitted' to the server. :)

    Remember Me checkbox?

Professor, Your checkbox code is outside of the form tag for the top login, so it's not being submitted when you submit the form. :) Move the </form> down under the checkbox and it should fix it. I looked at it when cbg first said it didn't work, but I missed that bit. :)

    Remember Me checkbox?

Awesome, thanks. I haven't needed to log back in since I found some other login form here that had it, but if I ever stay away too long again, I'll sure appreciate it. :)

    Remember Me checkbox?

Could we get a 'remember me' checkbox for the login up top there? :D Had it once, but i was away too long and now it's gone. :D

Brother's debt to deceased mother's estate

I would have to guess contract law, as that's what a promissory note would reasonably be. If I'm wrong, I'm sure a contract lawyer would let you know. :D

my business site & pics of customer's work

From here on out, add a clause to your contracts saying you have permission to use before and after photos to display the work you have done. :) Speaking of, what /do/ your contracts say on this point?

Clarification on what constitutes a "Derivative Work"

Bravo! Looks quite well argued from here! I think we have everything straight now. :) I'm sure for the most part things will fall under the utility guidance you have outlined. However I'm sure there are still creative elements found in clothing, such as 'do i use a button and button hole, or a...

Clarification on what constitutes a "Derivative Work"

Yes, you're right, I didn't work it well enough, though it's kinda the same, since both just got there with their inspiration, even if the clean room team had a 'list' written by another group, really the same deal, but different motivations. As far as imitation not being copying, if you look...

Arrest, Search, Seizure, Warrant Lost wallet = misdemeanor!!

Well, awesome to hear I was right, I hardly /ever/ hear that any more. No fun for your son though. Though how they can hold someone responsible for the contents of a lost wallet is something else. I suppose in all likelyhood the chance of whoever picking up the wallet going out of their way...

Clarification on what constitutes a "Derivative Work"

If Person A and Person B somehow both developed Product X completely on their own, they would NOT be violating each other's copyright by selling their Product X. Each would have their own copyright on their own creation. This relates to programming as 'clean room reverse engineering'...

Arrest, Search, Seizure, Warrant Lost wallet = misdemeanor!!

I'm not a lawyer, or anyone important, but I highly doubt there is an expectation of privacy to be had for a stolen wallet, and likely the police had to itemize the contents of the wallet when they received it, so that when they gave it to him they could confirm all contents that were in it when...

Clarification on what constitutes a "Derivative Work"

Well, I'm not a lawyer, but I do a lot of programming stuff, which has lead me on many readings about copyright law. It is an interesting question. Patterns, I have seen, seem to have two parts. They have the 'here is what it looks like', and the 'here is how you do it.' Now, if one used 'here...

Wrong SquareFootage given by Builder. What to do ?

I seem to recall there being two methods of calculating square footage... Have you tried tallying up the outside perimeter of the house/rooms as opposed to the inside perimeter? Just a thought. :)

    Equity Entitlement

Well, then his part of any of the equity that may exist would be: 600 / 6600 = 9.09% (.090909090909090909) At least to a reasonable standard anyway. Again, not a lawyer, not a legal opinion, just a reasonable guestimation of what seems fair to me. :) A real simple way might be to give...

    Equity Entitlement

Well, logically, he does have /some/ equity if there is any in the house. Granted, this is personal opinion, not legal, but if you wanted to show him how much/little of the equity he would be reasonably allowed to claim in the house, do this: What you will need to know, to mathmatically figure...

    Easy LLC Tax Question

I would assume once you hit a certain $$ amount you may need to count them as an indipendant contractor. You would be best to ask your CPA or business attorney though. :)

    Non-completed transaction

IMHO, it sounds like your initial sale was contingent upon her picking up the cabinet the next day. That being said... she did pay you for it. The 'correct' route was probably to tell her when she called the next day that you would be charging a $20/week storage fee, or you could refund her...

    Consumer Law, Warranties Buyer's Remorse

CBG, I can't explain why I got a bug in my bonnet, but I found this: http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/legal_guides/k-6.shtml Looking up the code... It would appear that cali does have this. Granted, I'm not a lawyer, but I can't see Direct Buy not qualifying under "discount...
