Help they don't know it was me

I'm 15. I have a lot of problems that are very personal to me which makes me feel like contributed to this... I went to the store to buy food with my dad. We separated in isles and I went my own way. This lady came up to me and asked if I had seen a phone that she was missing. I didnt see it at first so I didn't know what she was talking about. She had left and I had needed to use the bathroom. On my way I had found the phone and took it to the bathroom but she had already got in her car. I was going to turn it in but I really had to use the bathroom . I sat it to rest and completely forgot about it cause I was already extremely nervous so I guess I just shut down... I walked out and the bathroom started beeping so I walked out... She found it and got it back but I didn't say that I took it... I felt guilty... She said she will talk to the manager on Monday andmight press charges if she sees the security footage.. Can she press charges on me even if she found her phone? How my trouble could I be in? What would happen to me if she finds out?? It was at a dollar tree. Please help me.. My dad works there and he doesn't know... Could i get him fired for this?... Please help..
 
You didn't walk out with the phone so I doubt if anything will come of it.

I do suggest that you tell your Dad about what happened so you can both be prepared if something happens.
 
I agree that you father should know. He will be a lot less happy to find out from someone else.

If it happened exactly as you describe then you did nothing wrong. If she tries to make a crime report it likely won't go anywhere. If what you say is true it is unlikely anything is going to happen.

That said, some people will still be suspicious why you carried the phone into the restroom and left it there.

Why are you guilty? You didn't steal the phone. You found it and then you left it there. Don't worry unless there's something to worry about.

Why is she talking to you? How does she know who you are? Just don't talk to this strange women and if the police come, you don't have to talk to them.
