I went to court today and asked for continuance. My court date is now set to October 8th. I would like to know if I am able to go back to the court and talk to the DA about a reduction if it is after the court date on my ticket but before the court date of the continuance. Any help regarding how I might defend myself in court were it that I was unable to speak to the DA would also be appreciated. Thank you for your time.. and I'm sorry for posting about stuff you probably hear about all the time here.

Negotiation usually takes place in the courtroom before the judge enters. Bring a lawyer (I think someone else said that.) It usually helps and the DA usually has some mercy that you brought a lawyer and that it might reduce the chances of the state winning even though we both know they will. How were you clocked? Were the conditions clear? You will probably be able to negotiate a reduction in the speed and probably into the lesser violation. What do you hope to accomplish?

They didn't state how I was clocked, so I believe it was an estimation. However I am not one hundred percent on that. All I hope to accomplish is either a reduction from 75 to 64 or the continued ability to drive. I have read that if I lose my case or fail to receive a reduction I am able to have a hearing and/or appeal my case so that I may continue to hold driving privelages.. One thing I was curious to is how I would plead when they call my name, come October 8th. Would I plead not guilty, guilty, or is there another way for me to plead? :dunno: This is the first time I've really been to court and I am quite unsure on what to do.
