I want to make sure I understand you properly. Do you have a green card? A work visa? A visitor's visa? Let's start with that and we'll go from there.

I really don't know. I suppose it depends on what they want from you when you show up. Out here they get names from the voter rolls ... I guess your state does it differently.

I suppose you can try to ask for an exemption from duty, but they may not grant it and you may have to show up.
