So after reading into it the state only allow $3000 or under for small claims court. I think she had more than $3000 worth of things. The next step is for a civil dispute. Should I get a lawyer?

The county she lives in does not appear to have a small claims court. Just a Supreme Court and Circuit Court. What do I do?

Does this process usually take a long time?

Do I follow the law of the state she lives in or the state I live in?

ok so im trying to do this on a budget, but i could cover those costs in a suit. but dont i need proof that she has my stuff?

so its just that simple my ex-wife recieved my belongings shortly after we seperated. she gave me about a quarter of my things. my guestion is this. how do i go about getting the other 75% of my things? i have her current address but i think if i could get her to email me that she still has them...
