since then i've spoke with a few lawyers and they say it would cost anywhere from 5-8 grand to take care of this case...money i just dont have....

they gave me 3 years informal cuz it was a felony grand larceny dropped down to misdameanor theft and larceny with informal probation for 3yrs.
