I wouldn't rely on that list.

Anything in Florida should be stricken and rated separately. I wouldn't live anywhere that my house is guaranteed to be destroyed once a year by a hurricane.

Whistle stops, podunks, and one-horse town shouldn't be compared to larger communities.

Cities that were created as retirement communities should be rated separately.

Interesting that neither Phoenix nor Las Vegas made the list. Though Arizona (4 cities: 3 near Phoenix, 1 near Tucson) beat Nevada (1 city: near Reno).

Henderson, NV, IMO, is a nice place to live.

Florida was on our list of potential retirement locations. DH said, "Baseball Spring Training." I said, "Hurricanes."

Florida came off the list.

My claims territory before I retired included Florida and much of the east coast. I was assigned to the hurricane unit in 2004, 2005, 2006.

2004 - Four major hurricanes - Unspeakable damage - 3200 deaths.
2005 - Seven major hurricanes including Katrina.
2006 - Thankfully, no hurricanes made landfall in the US. I was still finishing claims from 2004 and 2005.

Florida is widely known for hurricanes. However, Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana challenge Florida's hurricane season. Furthermore, our eastern seaboard states are active during hurricane season, too. Texas, especially Galveston and Corpus Christi, has had it's share of hurricanes, too. We have to throw in Port Arthur and Beaumont, too!
