I have a question so I recorded an ex-friend who is obsessed with me and called me on video chat and was making death threats on Whatsapp video the person said she wanted to stab me 20 times or hire someone to kill me that I was dead meat.

I told her that I was going to call the police on her and I hung up I am in another county sov after I hung up I was trying to figure out what Police department to call and while I was doing that I get a phone call from the police in her area saying that she got into some altercation and I was mentioned and he wanted to know my side of the story because she says that I threatened her which was the other way around.

So the police officer couldn't really give me any details on that I gave him my side of the story and I also allowed him to see the video that I took he told me that he was not going to share the video with anyone that he just wanted to make a decision and needed to see it well next thing was she was Baker acted that night.

And on the police report he said he was going to put that she threatened me and that I should get the police report and I should consider a no contact order on her the problem that I'm having is that since I recorded her without her consent.

I don't know if I can use the video to get a no contact order she had also texted me over 30 times after I hung up on her, and the police report will have the information that she threatened me on it so I'm not sure if I'm going to need the video I'm just afraid because I know with Florida laws you have to let people know that you're recording them I did tell her I was recording her in the middle of the conversation when she started threatening but she continued.

anyways I don't know what to do at this point I've never been involved in any kind of police matter and I'm really scared because I don't know if I use this video as proof that she can in turn sue me for recording her without her consent.

Go to your local courthouse and ask for information on filing for a protective order.

But the thing is my biggest evidence is on a video which I don't know if legally I can release

Have you ATTEMPTED to make contact with the authorities on "WhatsApp"?
Here's their link to report the issue at hand.
You can report problematic content to WhatsApp. You can also stop receiving WhatsApp messages, calls, and status updates from someone by blocking them. Blocking and reporting problematic users helps keep WhatsApp safe. Learn how to block and report someone in this article.
If you feel you or anyone else is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services.

Report a contact, business, unknown number, or group

Reporting a user without blocking them won't stop you from receiving their messages, calls, and status updates. When you report a user in an individual chat, WhatsApp receives up to five of the last messages they've sent to you. When you report a group, WhatsApp receives up to five of the last messages sent to you in the reported group. If a call took place in an individual chat, WhatsApp may also receive basic info about the last five calls with this user, such as who initiated the call and the duration of the call.
The user or group won't be notified. WhatsApp receives the reported group or user ID, information on when the message was sent, and the type of message sent (image, video, text, etc.).
We might ban accounts if we believe the account activity is in violation of our Terms of Service. Per our Terms of Service, we retain the right to ban the user without notification. Please be aware that a user report of conduct in violation of our Terms of Service won't necessarily result in us banning the user or otherwise taking action against the user. The only way to report someone is to follow the in-app reporting process. After you've submitted a report, you don't need to take any action or share additional details. Contacting WhatsApp outside of the in-app review process won't expedite the review process or impact the decision. We'll acknowledge receipt of your report, but we will not contact you again.

Block a contact, business, or unknown number

When you block someone, messages, calls, and status updates sent by the contact won't show up on your phone and won't be delivered to you. Your last seen, online, status updates, and any changes made to your profile photo won't be visible to contacts you've blocked. Blocking a contact won't remove them from your contacts list, nor will it remove you from the list on the contact's phone. The existing chat will remain in your chatlist. You can delete the chat if you want to remove it from your chatlist, or archive the chat to hide it from your chatlist.
After you block someone:
  • You can choose to Unblock or Delete Chat after blocking someone. You'll also have the option of archiving the chat instead. Uncheck the box next to Report to WhatsApp if you don't want to report the person you're blocking.
  • Blocked numbers are visible in Blocked contacts, which can be found in Settings > Privacy > Blocked contacts.
Note:

  • Blocking a contact won't stop that user from seeing your messages in a group you both participate in, and you'll see their messages in that group as well. Please don't participate in groups with people you don't wish to communicate with.
  • Blocking won't stop you from being counted as online in a group if your privacy settings are set to Everyone. However, a blocked user can't see if you're online specifically.
  • We can't block or unblock contacts on your behalf. If you're concerned whether a blocked contact will know if you're blocking them, read about being blocked by someone.
  • Contacts can't see your status after you've blocked them. But, they can see your status if you post it before you block them.
  • You can see a contact's status if they posted it before you blocked or deleted their number from your phone's address book. The status will disappear within 24 hours and you won't see future status updates from that contact.

Block high volumes of unknown messages

As an advanced security measure, you can block high volumes of unknown messages to help protect your account and improve device performance.
If Block unknown account messages is turned on, WhatsApp will block messages from unknown accounts when they exceed a high volume. During this period, your contacts can message you as usual. Message blocking stops after message rates return to normal.
