My grandparents died intestate and left a tract of forest land. The current deed is in the names of their 9 children all of whom are also now deceased. The list of heirs who may have a claim to the property is over 100 people. No one wants to sell the land, but the family would like to set up some type of trust or other legal resolution which would enable us to hold the land for joint use of all heirs but limit its use for recreational purposes. Land taxes are currently paid by various family members but there is concern that this land is in limbo and a clear definition of use and roadmap for future generation ownership has not been defined. Is there a way to do this?
