International custody/visitation

A good friend of mine who resides in the Netherlands and is a Dutch citizen is in a dilemma. His ex-girlfriend is military and recently returned back to the U.S. She is also pregnant with his baby. She is being very dodgey about whether she will allow him to remain a part of this childs life or even put his name on the birth certificate. At the very least he would like visitation rights. How can he ensure his rights to stay a part of this childs life? He's not asking for full custody, only visitation and is a very good man. If he would need to hire a lawyer, are there pro-bono lawyers out there willing to help in int'l disputes? Thank-you for your help in this matter.

He basically has no rights to this child until it is born, and paternity is established. Mom does not have to cooperate. He would have to file paternity and visitation in the US since that is where the child and the mother will reside.

You're welcome. Sorry that the news overall is not good for him.

Truth better than the unknown

At least it looks like with a lawyers help and a paternity test he could visit the child in the states once or twice a year. Better than not at all. :) Thks.
