Hi!
I'm turning 18 on July 5, 2006. I will be attending the University of South Carolina. I moved from my parents home on the last day of high school into an apartment near campus. I pay my own bills, and I work about 20-25 hours a week. My car loan is in my mom's name, however, I make the payments. I have a substantial scholarship; however I'll be getting a loan for about $2500.oo a year for school. Question: If my parents DO NOT claim me on their taxes, when will I become eligible for government assistance with school? At this point, I receive no assistance because they are both teachers with income too high.
