[ This is a lame excuse. If you wanted to use a phone you could have found one, you were either too lazy or scared. Either way now its back to bite you in the ass. You most likely have a warrant, and all that has to happen is for a Police to run your plate number or your name and you get a 1...

I've taken "lookouts" before, and "blockers" (A favorite is one who spread their coat out like a Batman cape to block, would have worked great, if my camera wasn't on the OTHER side :) ) I've also taken pepole for disorderly conduct if they interfere in an arrest.

Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Detained when innocent

I have a feeling you've left out parts of your story but here ya go: 1. You say that the security person should actually see you take and conceal something to have “probable cause”. In my case that did not happen. Was the security guard acting unlawfully when she detained me? No, not wrong...

Not to sound rude but the Graduation should be the last thing on your mind.. If court is the same time as the graduation you have 2 choices. Go to the graduation, miss court, get a warrant, enjoy the hospitality of your local jail (hope you like bologna sandwiches and apples!). Go to court...

As Admin said, don't try to pull the "mental illness" card on the judge. If I had a nickle for every shoplifter who told me they were either "off their meds" or "just started on their meds" or "took too much of thier meds" I'd be a rich man and wouldn't have to do this job any more :)
