If you still owe for back rent, you should pay it. IMO that is the morally correct thing to do. If you choose to bypass the morally correct thing to do, then wait to be (possibly) served and present your case to the judge . Until then, live your life happily!

You didn't ask any questions. But if you are wondering if she could sue you and win, then yes, she very likely could. You owe your friends mom the rent money. I doubt any judge will believe that she said you didn't have to pay her back.
