Justice System, Police, Courts What wrongdoings are considered "sex trafficking"?

I noticed that in the case of Epstein he was considered guilty of sex trafficking. And Peter Nygard was indicted in US for sex trafficking charges. Despite the fact that the usual roadside pimp may not have done the same level of crimes as Epstein, are they considered "sex traffickers"?
Let's say I was a tourist in the US and I wanted to look for an escort(21 years old and above of course) through those escort websites, would I be considered an accomplice in sex trafficking? Currrently are all pimps in the US(who offer 21 years old and above women) considered(and will be charged as) sex traffickers if they are caught by the police?

Your question is overly broad...

If you don't dabble, you need not worry.

@Qriosity , no matter how you spell it, did KILL that cat. Lucky for the mythical cat, he had 8 more lives. You and I, unfortunately have but one life.

Currently are all pimps in the US(who offer 21 years old and above women) considered(and will be charged as) sex traffickers if they are caught by the police?

Pimping is illegal in all 50 states and territories.

Sex for money is allowed in a few counties in the state of Nevada.

If I were you, especially during this time of a worldwide medical plague, it might be much safer medically and legally for you if you SERVICED yourself sexually!!!

As for where you're posting from OP, sexual trafficking is also banned.

Malaysia: Prostitution is illegal in Malaysia, it is still rampantly practiced and services are widely available. The demand is particularly high in places like Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh. Most of the sex workers are trafficked from neighbouring countries like China.

Oops. How did you see what country I was from? Is it in my profile? I'm curious since I never made that info available.

"Sex trafficking of children or by force, fraud, or coercion" is codified in 18 U.S.C. section 1591. If you poke around, you can find other sex crimes in Chapters 109A, 109B, 110 and 117 of Title 18.

Let's say I was a tourist in the US and I wanted to look for an escort(21 years old and above of course) through those escort websites, would I be considered an accomplice in sex trafficking?

Probably not, but it would rather obviously depend on exactly what you did.

I very much doubt anyone considers a garden variety pimp to be a sex trafficker, but I can't rule out the possibility.

Federally:

a) Sex trafficking in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age; or

b) The recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery. (22 U.S.C. § 7102(9)).

Many states have similar definition. It doesn't mean you have to be shipping girls around for the purpose of sex. This is why the guy in New Orleans who pretended to be autistic to get women to change his diaper was convicted under the sex trafficking law. It doesn't me

Thanks for the memories.

That was one of the most bizarre misdeeds I learned about over the past year.

At the time it made me chuckle, guffaw, and laugh out loud.
