What Should I Do Now?

I have no experience with Workman's Comp and need help. I have been employed at a Texas State School for over ten years. On March 15th of this year, I had an accident at work. We had always complained that our parking area had no lighting. On this night someone had moved a heavy stone ash tray in the pathway to the parking lot....it's much like the ash trays you see outside of stores and restaurants. I didn't see it as I was walking to my car that night and fell over it. I landed on the concrete hitting my cheekbone and the ash tray fell on my right hand. I was badly injured and the workman's comp doctor now says that I need to see a facio-maxillary specialist. My employer says they can't find such a specialist that will take a workman's comp case. In the mean time I continue to have swelling, pain, and spasms in my right cheekbone. Also, I have no more sick time available and can't afford to go leave without pay. I have not been released to go back to work and I don't think I should until I am seen by a specialist. Doesn't workman's comp pay only a percentage of your salary? I am not sure where I should go from here. I do have both short term and long term disability but I think that would only be a percentage of my salary. I'm told I can't go to my regular doctor but I'm increasingly worried about my condition. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
