What is harrassment???

A friend just got a cell phone and says he is getting calls from the previous owner. He says that he told them 5 times that this was the wrong number for them. I told him to continue to say just that and ask that they removed the number for this person. He says that it is harassment and is thinking about a law suit. I say it is not because they are not calling him-just the phone# that that person had. Also, I said that collectors try to locate the debtor and thats what the creditor is doing. My question is, what is harassment and does he have a suit?

what I would suggest your friend do is get a letter from the phone company saying who the new number belongs to and send to the credit agency. There are people who try to avoid collections by saying that they have the wrong number which makes it harder for someone like your friend. and have your friend send it certified mail. don't know if it would work or not but worth a shot!
