Arrest, Search, Seizure, Warrant Weapon confiscated during arrest

My jurisdiction is: Texas

Long story short: My brother was arrested for drugs and a gun that I own was confiscated during the arrest. It is now a federal case and the US Attorney's office said I will have to file paperwork with my claim that I own the weapon and all rights to it to get it back.

Is this a standard form or do I just need to write a letter? Will I need to hire an attorney to assist in this?
