wants to pay cash!!

on thanksgiving night my truck was backed into. the guy gave me his name and number and DID NOT want to go through his insurance. he asked me to give him a quote so i did. i want the money in hand before i get my truck fixed but he wants me to get it fixed then have him meet me at the body shop to pay it. he seemed surprised that the quotes were that much and now im afraid that id get it fixed and he will not pay. is there anything i can do to get money in hand first?

Tell him he pays you for the amount of the damage, or you need his insurance info so you can file a claim. Tell him the truth, you dont want to put your truck in the shop and have to rely on him.
