A woman who works in my healthcare providers office has told people when my husband and I have had appointments. Isn't this a HIPAA violation? If so, what actions do you suggest I take to ensure this does not happen again in the future?
Thank you in advance for your help.

She has told my daughter in law, who happens to be friends with this employee, and whom I did not list on my paperwork as someone that they may discuss my information with.

Then I would agree that is a HIPAA violation. You can file a complaint with HHS. You will not be told what action is taken but I can assure you that they take such complaints very seriously.
