I'm curious to know on what grounds can video tapes from a gas station can be handed over to someone. I work for the railroad was seen to have purchased alcoholic beverages while on duty. The person who viewed the tapes was the police officer for the railroad. she found a receipt with my name on it and decided to check into it and see if I was on duty at that time as well as look into identifying me as the person on the tape. She has a husband that is actually a cop in that city. Does either the railroad police or her husband have the authority to view those tapes and does the store have the right to hand them over with out court orders or some type of concent?

The video belongs to the retailer and they show it to anyone they please. There is no expectation of privacy while making purchases at a retailer. Stop drinking during work.
