My question is in regards, to the extent or legality of a verbal contract. My friends and I decided to look for off campus housing, a rift in our friendship caused them to kick me out, even though we had agreed earlier to live together, and had found a house and I had put down my deposit. How can I legally have them allow me back into the house?

Who owns the house that you were living? If you were not on the lease then I cannot see a way you can compel them to allow you back in the house. With regard to your deposit, if you made a verbal agreement to rent the second house and they backed out, forcing you to lose your deposit, you may be able to sue them in small claims court for the deposit.

Unfortunately, it seems that what you agreed is very murky and, like virtually all verbal contracts, you will bear the burden of providng your case. It will likely not be easy here.
