About a month ago we received a letter from a Florida company telling us
they had won a judgment in default against us. We were shocked, how can
they win a judgment, we werent even served. So we hired an attorney to
vacate the judgment, he told us it shouldnt be difficult as Florida among
other states prefers to try cases based on merits, not technicalities.

OK, fine, but in the process, we found out that the service company claimed
we had been served this last November, but they list as serving address one
we used to live 2 years ago, we are about 50 miles away from it now.

Obviously, the serving company has lied, or something is fishy. We dont live
there for 2 years now, and yet they claimed they served us. Not only that
but a single man lives on our old address, as we have found out.

Could anything else have happened?

Can we ask the serving company to pay attorney fees
of the motion to vacate the judgment?

thx
