Using GPS, got texting and driving ticket

Has anyone gotten a texting and driving ticket? I got one in Bellingham Wa last weekend I literally just looked at my google maps on my phone for a second to see what street I needed to turn on, I was out of town visiting my girlfriend and was not familiar with the area. Should I contest or mitigate it?

If you decide to fight you will be against the odds, but there is hope. Check the specific language of the law you were cited for violating and see if it really applies.

You will have to check the law you were cited for violating as noted above. People look at paper maps which could also be a distraction but that isn't against the law.
